Matthew trained and qualified at the S.M.A.E. Institute, Maidenhead which provides specialist training in the foot health profession. The institute was established in 1919 and is one of the oldest open colleges of Foot Health Professionals in the UK, treating over 14 000 people per year. This qualification is the only foot health practitioner course in the U.K. which has a University accreditation, through the Oxford Brookes University.
